What makes it to the feed (and what doesn't)
I do not post everything sent in. There are many grading requirements I take into account when deciding whether or not a submission makes it to the feed, and the decision is usually made in 5 seconds or less. If your posts are consistently not getting posted, or if I sent you a link to this page, have a read below.
Admin-reviewed submissions
Feed Curation
It is important to keep a healthy blend of a little bit of everything. If 200 people posted a picture of a concert all at once on the same day, it would get incredibly boring. Sometimes, we don't approve regular, everyday posts (even some "S/O's") because it has already been covered or has been recently "driven in". As admins we ensure the feed remains unique, fun, and up for interpretation of your creativity and uniqueness!
Anonymity Issues
Posting usernames, phone numbers, names, emails, road addresses, workplace info; keep it anonymous. If a post includes a geotag or identifying location info, it might not be posted. This is a gray area, usually large events are fine but basically if I feel it might put someone in danger, appears to be spammy, I might not post it.
Composition Issues
• If the subject does not meet what I am looking for, it won't be posted.
• Repetitive to other posts. Trends happen, but they can't happen forever, I might need to end them at some point.
• Non-photogenic/stressed smiles, awkward angles, non flattering pictures, etc.
• Image is too dark or too light or too blurry.
• Fake/Photoshopped/Misleading/AI photos
• Too much text to read. Keep it to 5-10 seconds of reading time or less.
• Spam/Ads/Non-genuine personal gain - Content on LFW is meant to be genuine and posted for entertainment. If a submission includes a business name, phone number, or insinuates something "spammy" for personal monetary gain, it won't be posted.
Wrong Day
Some content is only permitted on specific days. If something is submitted too late, too early, or on the wrong day entirely, it may not be posted. We operate our day/timing on CDT, where Wisconsin is! Generally for specific days like "#MemeMonday"; we only allow them if they are sent in from 10pm sunday night until 10pm monday night. anything submitted earlier or later will get rejected due to being sent at the wrong time or the wrong "day".
Hookup-posting and Bad S/O's
• S/O's are meant to be flattering; raunchy S/O's usually are unwanted and make others uncomfortable.
• Try to avoid sending S/O's with a bunch of hashtags in it. It doesn't feel special if you are one of 20 others being shouted out.
• Try to include an interesting background or another subject into your S/O submission to make it something better than just a black picture.
• Avoid Hookup-posting. This means posts that intend to try or elude to hook up with someone. I allow some that are flirtatious and fun, but if they appear to be serious I won't post them. If you want to meet someone, come to the next event!
• Avoid repetitive S/O's. If you send S/O's the same every time, every day, it will get boring.
• Using the "@" symbol without including the "#" symbol before their Hashtag. I don't want viewers thinking you are tagging an actual username, because all Hashtags are anonymous.
Too Hardcore
Sometimes things might be unique, funny, and creative, but maybe it misses the mark or is too intense. I try to keep things away from politics or at least touch it in a diplomatic way. Some stuff may be too Spicy, and deviates from the purpose of LFW. Some stuff might be too intense for the feed. I don't post gruesome roadkill, gore, political protests or tragic accidents. The feed is not intended to jump-scare people, inflict intense panic or emotions and sometimes things submitted that might regularly be ok, won't fit the current day's curation.
Spelling & Grammar
Being that this is an 18+ app, it is expected that you will submit content where there is care and consideration for proper spelling and grammar. I'm not expecting perfect writing (lax writing is OK); but simple things like there, their, and they're, or improperly spelling someone's hashtag are things I might deny. I will make mistakes myself, but if there is a spelling error I notice, and "Spelling & Grammar is the way I mark as the reason, take the time and proofread your future posts before submitting!
These guidelines may change as the community grows. When in doubt, ask yourself if the post would make most people laugh, smile, or say "damn"—without putting anyone in danger or on blast.
